Getting to Know You October 24th 2008, 4-6 pm Buffalo State College

What do Tom Fontana, Murphy Brown, and Chardonnay all have in common? Buffalo State College of course! This fall’s "Getting to Know You", sponsored by WNYLA, is taking place at Buffalo State College this year.

The first part of the tour will be turned over to Daniel DiLandro, we will be taken on a tour of Buffalo State College’s most illustrious alumni’s works.  Tom Fontana, a 1973 graduate and the award-winning writer and producer of three acclaimed television series:    "St. Elsewhere", "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "Oz", has placed many of his works in Buffalo State College’s archival collection.  There will also be a tour of Diane English, class of 1974’s works as well, she is best known for the television series Murphy Brown. Time permitting there may be other things for us to see.

The second part of the tour at Buffalo State College involves Campus House, one the five original buildings, that was once used to house the presidents of the college. Campus house has been renovated into a state of the art teaching lab for the hospitality and touring department of Buffalo State.  Much of the building’s architectural integrity still remains.  Here we can sit by a cozy fire, and sip some of the best wines they have to offer, while nibbling on fruit and cheeses, black bean and goat cheese quesadillas and other tempting offerings.

Buffalo State College is a real gem in the autumn with an assortment of over 1700 trees, with over 100 varieties adorning the walkways of the campus, not to mention the view of Hoyt Lake and Delaware Park right across the street from us.  If you are really feeling adventurous, make plans to stay in the neighborhood after the tours and benefit from being within walking distance to the Elmwood Village where you will find art galleries, boutiques, bars, fine dining, bar food, amazing architecture from both Wright and Olmstead, not to mention the newly remodeled Pano’s restaurant.

Cost for all this is only $15.00 and limited to 30 registrants. Register at www.wnylrc.org . Make plans to join us in this unique setting for a memorable evening.
