September 15 will be the kickoff for Hispanic Heritage month and, appropriately, an extensive program is planned for this event at the Central branch of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library. There will be dancers and music and speakers but perhaps more importantly a timeline depicting Latino history in our region. It’s a long-lived one but, until recently, little information was easily attainable at the library. Enter the Hispanic Heritage Council and its leaders who have collected photos and information chronicling this long history to fill this void. This is but one event in the month-long celebration that is sure to continue to be a focus of this growing community. Read.
