For the fourth year in a row, the NY 3Rs Association, Inc. (the organization that includes WNYLRC and the 8 other library councils) had a table at the NYLA Exhibit Hall. Instead of the prize wheel we used for the last 2 years, this time we decided to change things up with a Plinko board. (You may have seen Plinko on The Price is Right, where you drop a disc onto a board of pegs and let it drop into a slot indicating what you’ve won.)
Depending on where your Plinko disc landed, you could win a set of postcards featuring images from each of the library councils represented on New York Heritage. WNYLRC’s region was represented by this photo of The Maid of the Mist and Niagara Falls from the Niagara Falls Public Library.
Those who didn’t win the postcards were eligible to participate in a raffle, consisting of 9 prize items/baskets, from each of the library councils’ regions.
At the closing of the exhibit hall on Friday, the NY 3Rs staff gathered to draw the winning tickets for the raffles, and notify the winners by phone calls and/or texts.
Jennifer Potter of the Niagara Falls Public Library won a jigsaw puzzle of Cayuga Lake, representing the South Central Regional Library Council in the Finger Lakes region – and was able to claim her prize right away. Here she is, with Eric Alan of the Northern New York Library Network presenting the prize to her.
The names of the winners were live-Tweeted on the NY 3Rs Twitter account, but here is the full list:
Long Island Library Resources Council (LILRC) basket – Jennifer Burke from Dewitt Community Library
South Central Regional Library Council (SCRLC) prize – Jennifer Potter from Niagara Falls Public Library
Capital District Library Council (CDLC) basket – Beth Hadley from Sinclairville Public Library
Metropolitan New York Library Council (Metro) basket – J J Yuan from Queensborough Public Library
Southeastern New York Library Resources Council (SENYLRC) bag – Susie Renzi-Falge from Watertown Flower Memorial Library
Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) prize – Meghan Wakeman from Albany Public Library
Western New York Library Resources Council (WNYLRC) basket – Krystina Hardter from Newark Public Library
Unfortunately we lost the records of the winners for the Central New York Library Resources Council (CLRC) and Northern New York Library Network (NNYLN) prizes, but congratulations to our mystery winners too!
